Your brand,
on my iPhone Duo.

Apple has never made a folding phone before. This is the one, and for the next few weeks its surfaces are for sale. The phone stays with me. Your logo goes wherever I take it.

iPhone Duo, back panel

Open spots take a bid. Claimed ones take a higher one.

Nobody outside Apple has held one of these yet.

When I pull it out, conversations stop. People ask to hold it, then what it does, then what's on the back. That last question is yours to answer.

Everyone recognises the Apple. Put your logo right next to it.

Every surface, and what it costs

Spots 01–00

Listed in the same order as the phone: 1 through 0. Spots open between $0 and $0, and the auction decides the rest.

How it works

1

Claim a surface.

The titanium back, the cover screen, the inner display, or the charger. Twenty-two placements, each with a real size and its own live price.

2

Back it in full.

You pay when you bid, not a fraction of it. The spot is yours the moment payment clears, until somebody pays more for it than you did.

3

Ride shotgun on launch day.

I cut the vinyl, seat it under a clear case, and carry the phone everywhere I go from the day it ships.

Back spots are die-cut vinyl laid on the bare titanium and sealed under a clear case. Charger spots go straight onto the adapter's white polycarbonate. Screen spots are lock-screen wallpaper tiles, live for the auction period plus 30 days.

What the money buys

Every bid goes to the phone, the vinyl and the travel that puts it in front of people. I don't own one yet; this auction is how it gets bought.

Auction goal

$4,200

Set to exactly what the phone costs, nothing more. The case, the die-cut vinyl and getting it into rooms come out of my own pocket, not yours.

Pre-orders open 16 October, in stores 23 October.

Questions

Yes. I'm Ratnakar, I build in public from Bengaluru, and I co-run AI & Weekends. The bids are real money through a real payment processor, the phone is a real purchase I'm making in October, and every bid, every brand and every rupee on this page is public. You are watching the whole thing happen in the open, not trusting a promise.

Ratnakar at Minion Land

The person holding the phone

Hey, I'm Ratnakar 👋

I'm a builder in Bengaluru and I co-founded AI & Weekends, a community for people who ship. Most weeks I'm in a room with founders, engineers and designers; the rest of the time I'm sharing what I'm building with the people who do the same.

This is my first foldable and my first auction. Whatever goes on its back comes into every one of those rooms with me.
